A lot on our plate
The day started out with a call that Bridger had a quiet night. My next call was that his white count was increased (sign of infection) and his BNP was increased (sign of heart failure), but that he was still doing fine. I asked if I could come see him today, but they were still a little leery of that idea and asked if I could wait until tomorrow. The next phone call I received was from the doctor saying that Bridger had taken a turn and would probably have to be reintubated (put the breathing tube back in), I asked if I could please come see him and she asked to have the chance to intubate and stabilize him before answering that question. Finally I got a phone call saying that I could come and that someone would meet me outside with a gown and mask that I could put on before going into the hospital. After 3 long days I finally got to see my baby boy, I have never been apart from him for that long. He was sedated and paralyzed, but they said he was looking better than he had just before I arrived. I was able to sit with him for a few hours. While I was there, I received the news that Stanford declined evaluating Bridger for transplant, they said he is higher risk because of his multiple heart surgeries. So we are sending his chart to St. Louis and Baylor (the only two other facilities in the U.S. that perform pediatric heart/lung). We have some things to work out in the mean time, Bridger needs to stabilize and extubate, we are going to try and replace his G-tube with a G-J-tube(one that feeds into the intestine, not the stomach) and also get our bearings back. Tomorrow they are going to let me move back into the PICU, it isn't standard protocol, but if we are running out of time I can not spend anymore time away from Bridger than I have to. So we will play a little more of the waiting game for the next few days.

Dear Staci, Danny, and Bridger,
We hope you all know our hearts are with you, and we are praying that things will get easier for you. We love you all so much and are constantly thinking about you guys. Here's hoping for St. Louis or Baylor, and another comeback from our sweet angel Bridger. He is such a wonderful sweet boy. We love you so much.
Love, Heather and family.
I'm so sorry that Stanford declined Bridger. We are keeping our fingers crossed that St. Louis or Baylor will evaluate him. You guys are truly amazing! Hang in there. I'm so glad you get to be with Bridger again.

I am so sorry you are going through SO much. It's not fair. We are praying for Bridger and praying that St Louis and/or Baylor have positive news. I can't imagine how frustrated you are. Then to be seperated from him because your sick on top of it all. I didn't know that those were the only three heart/lung centers in the US. I heard that St. Louis is AMAZING.. one of a kind!!
Praying for you all!!

Sweet Stacy and Bridger, my heart aches for you. I am sorry that you are faced with these decisions. I am so sorry that you have been sick. The prayers are coming your way, lots and lots and lots of prayers.
I have been following some heart blogs and yours is one of them. I am routing for Bridger. I too have a heart baby, Ellie. I totally believe in the power of prayer. It has helped us get through times that seemed unbearable. We will pray for you and your sweet boy. Hang in there, I have seen miracles happen.
Sorry about Stanford, that stinks. You still have other things to try though, don't lose hope yet. I'm glad you will be going back to Primary tomorrow, you need to be there, for both of you. Keep us updated and let us know if there is anything you need.
Oh, I tried to call you back tonight, I guess you were already in bed. If you get a minute, call me in the morning.
Stanford was where we were supposed to be sent instead if the U of Iowa hospital (but because of a HUGE insurance mix up we were mistakable sent to Iowa). What I can tell you about St. Louis is that it is an incredible hospital. They are the most similar to the U of Iowa hospital, and we LOVE this program. I have been in touch with pediatric transplant families in St. Louis and they have been extremely pleased and have seen miracle. I hope and pray that this will be your case!
Oh, if it makes you feel better, I got a horrible cold on the day of Beckham's transplant. I had to stay away from him during most of that days and the three critical days after. It was awful!
Lot's of continued prayers!
